SIX Feng Shui Tips to Reduce HOLIDAY STRESS

Have you noticed how the holidays seem to come earlier each year..?!

Unfortunately for many of us, so do stress levels.

Holidays can be a reminder of negative memories, past family tension and/or heartache and loss.

Also, schedules get tighter with longer “to-do lists” and extra obligations.

It’s no secret that stress left unmanaged can take its toll on our physical, emotional, and mental health, as well as on our relationships.

Here are six Feng Shui Tips to help you manage Holiday Blues and Stress:

  1. Identify your priorities and establish boundaries. Set boundaries. Say no to “lesser” priorities, and ask for help when needed. This will keep you from feeling pulled in a lot of directions. It may also help reduce the risk of feeling resentment or disappointment after the holidays.
  2. Take care of your body and mind. This should include regular exercise, adequate sleep, a healthy diet, and relaxation practices like yoga, meditation, and/or prayer. What’s important is to take responsibility for your JOY level, by practicing “mindfulness” in each moment.
  3. Be realistic. Assess your expectations of yourself and others. DO NOT expect perfect peace and harmony this year. You don’t have to prepare a fancy meal or give the perfect gift to every friend and family member. However, to reduce stress and the blues, you do need to take good care of yourself.
  4. Less is more.  Whatever you do, do not lose sight of Feng Shui during the holidays. This applies to “clutter and stuff” in your environment, as well as to the “quantity” of food and gifts you purchase. Holidays are not meant to be abundant in the way of money you spend, but rather in the amount of LOVE you extend.
  5. Cultivate gratitude. An “attitude of gratitude” during the holidays is essential to your well-being. If friends or family members stretch your patience, remind yourself of why you are thankful to have them in your life. Write down 5 things you are grateful for each day, before going to sleep.  This will help you relax your mind and body, and appreciate the people who matter the most in your life.
  6. Reach out.  The best way I know how to manage stress and reduce anxiety is to help make life better for others. This year, consider creating a vibrant, healthy, and joyful holiday experience for a “needy person or homeless family.” Enroll all family members, including your children, in making a POSITIVE difference on Earth. There are literally HUNDEREDS OF THOUSANDS OF FRIGHTENED, SICK, AND HOMELESS PEOPLE in need of your love, kindness and generosity. Reach out today, and shift the holiday energy from being all about YOU – to being all about OTHERS.
