The beautiful and beloved Bleeding Heart (Dicentra Spectabilis) is a symbol of “undying love.”

The botanical name – Dicentra, from the Greek means “two spurs,” and Spectabilis translates to “worthy of notice,” or “SPECTACULAR,” which this plant certainly IS.

The Pacific Northwest species has a medicinal value too. It can be applied as a root tincture or hot compress to help with pain relief, applied externally to bruises and sprains. Internally, the tincture of bleeding heart is used to help soothe frazzled nerves, especially related to a shock or traumatic experience.
